Taiwan meets the Beerdigan

The Beerdigan is made for inter continental living, this time it has arrived in a historical yet still mysterious garden in Taipei, a location that just like Monterrey, reflects our origins and spirit: Who says the future is so serious, we are spearheading a sports-wear revolt, wear what is comfortable and don’t be afraid to be yourself.

The Location

We travelled to Taipei, Taiwan during 2017 Chinese New Year holiday! We headed to the northern part of the city, Shi-Lin Official Residence Garden which was the Horticultural Experimental Station during the Japanese Colonial Era of Taiwan (1895-1945).

In 1949, the garden and the property were transformed into the residence of Chiang Kai-shek, the political and military commander between 1928-1975. Both the residence and garden was heavily militarized and fortified before they opened to the public in 1996. It was revealed that the grounds of the whole property contain a hidden tunnel which connects to the Presidential office in downtown Taipei.

The Model

Born in Taipei, as a younger son from military family, Denny Tomas Wen, once a professional model, now a father of two, is a Fitness Coach at Taipei American School, and has been a childhood friend of mine. He strikes the perfect oriental poses of Taiwanese life: Having a morning jogs around the garden, resting on a hundred-year-old Banyan tree, stretching for a while before getting ready for a traditional breakfast.
